natural remedies for hypertension

In this article I would like to talk to you about hypertension , a problem that today, as per the protocol, provides only and exclusively a pharmacological therapy.

In reality there are valid natural alternatives , but these are almost never taken into consideration by the attending physician.

This is why I believe it is important to be personally informed about what are the alternatives, especially when the problem is not yet so serious. And what I would like to do today is this, make you aware that there are also natural remedies, among other things also very effective.

Also pay close attention to your diet .

The latest studies have shown that it is not just salt and coffee that increase the pressure, but above all the sugars and refined flours (ie white bread, pasta, pizza, crackers, biscuits, various sweets, white rice, etc.). ).

While foods like legumes, fish and vegetables are your best allies to lower the pressure.

Natural remedies for lowering blood pressure

Let's see what are the most effective natural remedies to regulate the pressure.

Please note that if you are already taking medication, many of these herbs may be contraindicated for you, as they would interfere with the drug.

So if you are going to use it, talk to your doctor first because you will most likely have to reduce the dosage of the drug, or at least discontinue it. This of course will be up to the doctor to decide.

1. Aloe juice

aloe
In addition to purifying the body, enhancing the immune system and reducing inflammation, Aloe juice is undoubtedly one of the most suitable natural remedies to regulate blood pressure .

This is due to its high content of mineral salts (including potassium which has a diuretic and hypotensive action) and vitamin C , which acts by improving blood circulation and strengthening veins, arteries and capillaries.

In a study of over 5,000 patients, positive results were reported in five years after giving aloe juice in combination with psyllium fiber. Apart from the reductions in total cholesterol levels, triglycerides and blood sugar, the following results were found:

There was a decrease in the frequency of angina attacks during the study period. At the end of the study, 85% of patients reported normal heart rhythm . All patients taking beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers or diuretic drugs to treat their hypertension and angina had to reduce the dosage of the drugs to at least half of their prescribed dosages.

olive leaves decoction
The decoction prepared with the olive leaves is another extraordinarily effective natural remedy, both to reduce blood pressure and to regulate cholesterol .

There are already several studies (eg [ 1 ] and [ 2 ]) that demonstrate the therapeutic efficacy of this simple remedy.

The decoction of olive leaves has a calcium-antagonist activity on the blood vessels, which would justify its hypotensive action.

But that is not all. Thanks to the presence of oleuropein (a polyphenol), the decoction of olive leaves also performs a vasodilating action , due to the relaxation of the smooth muscles of the arteries, with benefits also at the coronary level. It also reduces the systolic pressure and brings diastolic back into physiological values.

4. Stevia rebaudiana

stevia lowers pressure
Stevia is a small seedling known to most for its very high sweetening powercombined with a total absence of calories and the fact that it does not raise blood sugar (or rather regularizes it).

In addition to this it must be said that Stevia has excellent hypotensive properties , ie it is able to reduce blood pressure.

The hypotensive action is to be attributed to a substance called stevioside .

One of the most significant studies that demonstrates the effectiveness of this compound, was conducted in 2003 in China, out of 106 people suffering from hypertension .

Of these 60 were assigned to active treatment with stevioside extract, while the other 46 were assigned to the placebo group. Each subject was given capsules containing stevioside (250 mg) or placebo three times a day and were monitored at monthly intervals for a total duration of one year.

Result:

Already after 3 months the systolic and diastolic blood pressure of the active group decreased significantly and the effect persisted throughout the year. Blood biochemical parameters including lipids and glucose did not show significant changes and no side effects were noted.
