Maca ( Lepidium meyenii ) is a cruciferous tree that grows in the Peruvian Andes mainly in the heights of Junín (plateau del bombom) between 13 thousand and 15 thousand feet (4100-4500 m). These extreme conditions favor the presence of nutrients and phytochemical compounds that make maca a real super food .
Maca was already known at the time of the Incas who considered it a real gift from the gods. They cultivated it and offered it as a gift to the Gods during ceremonies. They also exploited its benefits to improve their physical and mental abilities .
