Valerian is a plant used in tradional medicine to treat anxiety, stress, nervousness and problems of insomnia.
Decoction: a teaspoon of valerian, 1 cup of water (about 250 ml).
Pour the Valerian into a saucepan with cold water. Turn on the flame and bring the water to a boil. Boil for 5-6 minutes, turn off and leave the tea for more 10 minutes.
Filter the infusion and drink it hot, to take advantage of the antispasmodic and sedative action, recommended before going to sleep.
Valerian can have some side effects, especially in the case of continuous and prolonged use. When this happens, the onset of symptoms can be migraine, high blood pressure, insomnia and excitability. It is recommended an occasional and never prolonged use of this plant.
