Description
The Chaga mushroom , whose scientific name is Inonotus obliquus (or in French “polyphore oblique”) is a wild mushroom that grows exclusively on birch trunks , in the coldest regions of the northern hemisphere (Russia, Northern Europe, Canada and the United States northerners).
This very slow growing mushroom is much sought after and used for a very long time in Russia, Siberia, China, in the countries of northern Europe and Canada.
At first glance, chaga looks like no other mushroom. It has a very dark, almost black, hard rind that looks like coal. Its interior is more flexible, has a grainy appearance of yellow to orange color.
As Chaga grows, it absorbs and accumulates nutrients from the birch it grows on, resulting in a dense, rough mass.
USE: Raw material for technical use.
