Description
Calendula is a herbaceous plant belonging to the large Composite family . It grows spontaneously in Italy and is mainly cultivated for ornamental purposes. However Calendula flowers are edible and can be used to embellish our dishes, or more commonly as an herbal tea. The herbal use of this plant
The flowers and flowering tops of Calendula are preferably harvested in spring and in the months of September, October and November. The flower heads are cut with the nails just below their insertion, the flowering tops are obtained by collecting the twigs when most of the flower heads are open.
Our Calendula is grown in a 100% natural way, without the use of pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers. The cultivation is located on our land in Fermo, in the open countryside. The harvest is done by hand and the flowers are dried at low temperatures, in order to keep the active principles of the plant intact and unaltered.
Usage tips
Infusion . A coffee spoon of dried flowers is used on a cup of water. The water is brought to the boil, then it is turned off and the dried flowers are poured in, leaving it to rest for 10 minutes.
