Description
In ancient times, savory was called " the herb of love " because it was considered a powerful remedy for increasing libido . For this reason, until a few centuries ago, its cultivation was strictly prohibited in monks' gardens.
The popular 20th century French herbalist, Maurice Mességue , still considers it a valid therapeutic tool for those with sexual problems and recommends taking it both as a herbal tea and as a spice for seasoning foods.
Savory is also considered an excellent ally against bloating and flatulence caused by legumes . Simply add it directly to soups in the last 10-15 minutes of cooking to make the legumes more digestible.
Furthermore, in folk medicine this herb is used as a useful natural remedy against intestinal worms and to treat diarrhea and gout problems .
