Description

Chives is an aromatic plant of the Liliaceae family, the same as garlic, leek, shallot and onion, vegetables with which it also shares the particular aroma and flavor.

The chives as well as for use in the kitchen, is known in folk medicine for its diuretic and purifying properties, especially for the kidneys, as well as for its hypoglycemic effects (reduces glycaemia and fights diabetes) and cardiotonic.

Advice on use

Chives have a very particular taste that is reminiscent of onion, although more delicate. It goes perfectly with cold sauces, salads, cheeses and vegetables.

It is advisable to add it just before serving the dish, without letting it cook too much, so that it does not lose the original aroma. Ideal in cauliflower soups, potatoes, fish soup, with fresh cheeses, ricotta, omelettes, omelettes and scrambled eggs. Also excellent for dressing carrots, cucumbers, turnips, for tomato sauce, vinaigrette sauce, green sauces in general and for fish.
