Polyporus umbellatus, also known as Zhu ling in Traditional Chinese Medicine, is a mushroom that has been used for over 2,500 years since the Han Dynasty. Originally described as a remedy with strong diuretic properties, it was used to treat "damp" conditions, such as water retention and for the treatment of urological problems.

Description
Polyporus umbellatus is a mushroom that has ancient roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Originally described in the Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing (The Divine Farmer's Classical Materia Medica) as a diuretic remedy that works in the presence of edema and dysuria, it was subsequently described in various other medical matters of ancient and modern Chinese Medicine.
Polyporus is a saprophytic mushroom widespread in the temperate zones of Asia and Europe. It is an edible mushroom and also highly sought after for its good flavor.
On a therapeutic level, Polyporus umbellatus is used above all in urological problems, kidney disorders and water retention.
